Many people imagine AI as a digital mind with an independent consciousness that has emerged from a sci-fi film. But the reality is much more grounded, and therefore more impressive: AI is not a true \u2018thinking\u2019, it is highly sophisticated pattern recognition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To understand why it's not conscious thinking, let's use a simple statistical example. Let's imagine that AI tries to complete the sentence: \u2018The alma\u2026\u2019. The software does not know what an apple is, but it calculates the probabilities from the input data. If you have seen in your database seven times \u201cred\u201d, twice \u201cgreen\u201d and once \u201cyellow\u201d, you will most likely give the answer based on a statistical model with a ratio of 7-2-1: \u2018red\u2019. Thus, the AI selects the next most optimal character or word on a probabilistic basis, rather than on the basis of internal experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The literature distinguishes three main categories based on the depth of intelligence:<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 1950, Alan Turing proposed a test: if a person, talking through a terminal, cannot decide whether there is a machine or a person on the other side of the line, the machine is intelligent. According to our sources, in order to perform the test, the machine should have four specific capabilities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Although there is a Loebner Prize for the most successful attempts, no one has ever won the $100,000 prize.
